Socialistexan: Types of cis bigots I am quite tired of (a bit of a rant, this)

tipsforradicals:

[warning for cissexism]

The Fundiegelical: “You may think you’re ‘happy’ by wearing the clothing of the opposite sex, but you’re living in sin and you’re going straight to hell! Jesus loves you.”

The “Enlightened” Liberal: “But gender doesn’t even

Some of these I dont understand what makes them bigots. Like saying you wouldnt want to date a trans person… If you support their rights, and lifestyle then whats wrong with not wanting to date one? Its a matter of preference just like every other sexual orientation. Some people prefer to only date straight people, other people are more open sexually. And then there are also other factors to consider… like having children. So its a bit hypocritical of this post to call a person a bigot, when they are just following their sexual preferences. If they support the Trans community and its rights they are not a bigot. If they arent shaming you, hating you, guilting you or discriminating against you for being trans then they are not a bigot.

The other thing about this post that rubs me the wrong way is that while its informative to the feelings of Trans people, its also a little harsh. Some of them I get and completely agree with, and some of them are too much. As a person who supports Trans community I felt wile reading this post that they were a little under appreciative in the support they do get. You cant expect people to support you whole heartedly if you keep attacking them when they are doing so.

Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law. The NAACP’s support for marriage equality is deeply rooted in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and equal protection of all people…

NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous, as

…the NAACP passed a resolution Saturday endorsing same-sex marriage as a civil right and opposing any efforts “to codify discrimination or hatred into the law.”
